Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, Set in the undercroft of the buildings in Petworth it is a unique dining experience. Reasonably priced and great food. Takeaway or dine in. Definitely worth the steps down to this below ground restaurant.

We owe a huge thank you to Sitar and the team at Basmati Petworth for providing us with an exceptional birthday meal for my Dad. What a kind and thoughtful man Sitar is, surprising us all with a birthday cake! The main meal was outstanding and we laughed and smiled throughout the evening. Would highly recommend a visit, not just because of the great service, but the unusual nature of eating in a stunning underground restaurant.

Amazing curry, one of the best saag paneer I’ve had. The apricot curry was offered mild too, despite the heat of the summer. So overall they were extremely accommodating, staff were very friendly. Will return again.

In the heart of Petworth lays this little gem of an Indian restaurant . Beneath the street the Basmati is in a old wine cellar which makes for a interesting visit in itself. The menu was great and the food was equally good. Service was spot on, will be going back and recommending to friends.

Just had a really good meal there. Staff are lovely. Love the rustic cellar setting that is beautifully lit. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The food is seasoned perfectly, not too spicy (unless you order a really spicy dish!). The Korma sauce is gorgeous. I will definitely be going back there with my husband. A brilliant restaurant right on my doorstep!
